The Legacy Project
Marcel Moyse’s pedagogical legacy has shaped the playing of nearly every flutist and continues to inspire new generations to explore the expressive, singing qualities of the flute. Yet his approach did not emerge in isolation. Moyse stood within a rich lineage of flutist-pedagogues—including Paul Taffanel, Louis Dorus, Joseph Guillou, and François Devienne—each deeply connected to the operatic and vocal ideals of their time. This project aims to trace that artistic ancestry through a pedagogical family tree, illuminating the historical influences that inform our individual voices as performers and offering fresh pathways for creative exploration.
